June 2025

The Camsight Equipment Roadshow visited us at our June meeting. They showed us gadgets and devices to illuminate, enlarge and literally tell the time with a speaking watch.
They offer support, advice, counselling and peer support. One member took the opportunity to book a home visit.

Reiki
This month’s speaker was Sue Hemstead a Reiki Master from Doddington. We were told about the history of Reiki and the fact that each Reiki Master can trace their lineage in the subject back to Mikao Usui a Japanese Buddhist monk in the early 1900s.
Sue went through what to expect at a reiki session and reiterated there is no physical contact with the client during the session. We were shown different types of incense sticks, oils, and sound bowls. Lesley had a short Reiki treatment which included two sound bowls. She said it was very restful and warm.
We finished the meeting with our usual seated exercises.

The speaker this month was Trisha Moss from The Royal Osteoporosis Society. We found out it isn’t only menopausal women that have osteoporosis, younger men and women, children and pregnant women can all have osteoporosis.
It’s never too late or too early to start looking after your bones. Eat healthily, including calcium and vitamin D rich foods. Watch your alcohol intake, don’t smoke and move your body.
There is a Specialist Nurse Helpline 08088000035 for questions about bone health and Osteoporosis.
Trisha’s talk was followed by our usual seated exercise session.
