The Family History group now meets in the Vermuyden Room at the Chatteris Library which gives us the bonus of using their free access to the 'Ancestry' and 'Find My Past' research sites which are almost essential for on-line genealogy.
We have recently been transcribing some records for the Chatteris Museum relevant to Chatteris men and women who served during WWII, although, most of our time is spent researching our own family trees.
You never know what might turn up - our group leader - Georgina - had an ancestor who was hanged in 1816 for partaking in the Littleport Riots during the time of the Napoleonic Wars, and Ken discovered a British Prime Minister in his tree - Henry Addington, 1801 to 1804 (and no, he hadn't heard of him either!).
All abilities are welcome, why not come along and join us at the library on the 1st Thursday of the month, 10am - 12 noon.
